Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985 in London, United Kingdom) is a British pop/R&B singer and songwriter. She was discovered in the reality TV show The X Factor and went on to win the show. The prize she received was a £1 million contract to Simon Cowell's record label, Sony BMG. Her debut single in the United Kingdom, "A Moment Like This", broke a world record after it was downloaded over 50,000 times within thirty minutes of its release

The mid-week charts puts the 2006 X-Factor winner well ahead of nearest rivals, Take That, with nearly 100,000 sales, all on downloads alone making it the fastest selling digital release ever.
Bookmakers have put Leona at 14/1 to pick up this years Christmas No.1, behind the 2008 X Factor Winner (favourite at 1/5) and Terry Wogan, at 4/1.
Snow Patrol got to Number 5 in the UK charts when they first released Run in 2003.

And in the singles chart Beyonce knocked the X Factor finalists charity track Hero off the number one spot.
Her track If I Were A Boy was the biggest selling single last week also beating The Killers (3), T.I (4) and Katy Perry at 5.
Leona charted ahead of Dido’s comeback record Safe Trip Home in the album countdown.
Stereophonics fell to 3 and Nickelback’s new one Dark Horse entered at number 4.
The album chart will be stirred up this week with massive new albums from Guns N’ Roses and Kanye West being released.
