Angelina Jolie Wants More Efforts Made To Help Iraqi Refugees

Angelina Jolie has begged US authorities to "step up" their efforts to help Iraqi war refugees.

The 32-year-old actress - who is the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) - believes America must address the growing humanitarian crisis following the US invasion of the Middle Eastern country in 2003.

In a piece Angelina penned for The Washington Post newspaper titled 'A Reason to Stay in Iraq', she wrote: "What we cannot afford, in my view, is to squander the progress that has been made. In fact, we should step up our financial and material assistance."

The UNHCR has asked the US government for $261 million this year to tackle the problem. Angelina claims the sum is "less than the US spends each day to fight the war in Iraq."

The star - who visited Baghdad earlier this month - is deeply concerned there is no coherent plan to cope with two million refugees within the country, 58 per cent of which are under 12, and the two million that have already fled Iraq.

She said: "It will be quite a while before Iraq is ready to absorb more than four million refugees and displaced people. But it is not too early to start working on solutions."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are rumored to be in Bastrop County on the set of a new movie.

They are supposed to be in Smithville, a town that calls itself ‘Texas best kept secret,’ but the secret of celebrity sightings may be out now.

Locals are buzzing about the movie, which Pitt is rumored to star in, but protective of the stars.
Star sightings abound in neighboring Bastrop though, where some claim to have spotted Jolie at a Wal-Mart.

“Well, I'm curious. And so we'll see how it comes out. I'm sure we'll get to see them somewhere somehow and that'll be fun, and that's an excitement that usually doesn't come to a town like us,” Smithville resident Sandy Hightower said.

The movie is called "Tree of Life." This isn’t the first time that Smithville has been a film star; the town was featured in the movie “Hope Floats”, which came out in 1998 and starred Harry Connick Jr. and Austinite Sandra Bullock.

The movie is listed to be in “pre-production” on the movie web site IMDB. According to that web site, the movie will also star Sean Penn, and is written and directed by Terrence Malick, who also and directed “The Thin Red Line.”

Angelina Jolie is pregnant with twins, her partner Brad Pitt has confirmed to friends.

After weeks of silence on the subject, Jolie's rounded belly on the red carpet of the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday confirmed she was expecting.

Coinciding with Jolie's bump debut, excited dad Pitt has begun telling friends about their impending arrivals, the Mail Online has learned.

The couple are already adoptive parents to Cambodian Maddox, six; Ethiopian Zahara, three; and Vietnamese Pax Thien, four; and have a biological daughter Shiloh Nouvel, 21 months.

In preparation for the birth this summer, Pitt has been rescheduling his work so he has enough time to spend with Jolie and the children.

A friend of the couple tells the Mail Online: "Brad's been very quiet about this pregnancy so far but this was the weekend he decided to let the cat out of the bag. He's telling everybody close to him, because he's having to change around his work schedule to get ready for the birth.

"They're having twins, Angelina is healthy, and he's thrilled that he's going to be a father once again.

"They didn't exactly plan this pregnancy, but they wanted more children and Brad says Angelina was very willing to have them herself."

In contrast to the exotic birth of Shiloh in Namibia in 2006, Jolie is expected to undergo a more low-key birth in her native America.

The friend said: "They want to have these children in Los Angeles or New Orleans. I don't think Brad wants to isolate himself and the family again like he did when Shiloh was born.

"But he's also probably not going to take on a major acting role before the birth either, so he can focus on making sure Angelina is happy, healthy and comfortable."

Pitt will have a tough time balancing his work schedule with family life this year - he's signed up to star in five films, as well as produce seven other movies.

Jolie's pregnancy has ended recent reports the couple were planning to adopt another child to add their rapidly expanding brood.

Pitt has previously joked he wants enough children for his own football team.

Before she met Pitt on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005, Jolie said she thought she would only adopt children, but changed her mind when she was the actor interacting with her eldest son Maddox.

She said: "I believe I'm meant to find my children in the world and not necessarily have them genetically."

I think that Faith Hill looks gorgeous, but it isn't very Grammy-like as it is supposed to be the place to take some fashion risks and not be so very formal.

Oh, 18-year-old Taylor Swift. The gown is beautiful, but it seems a little too promlike for me. Her personal stylist designed it for her, but I think she could have looked a lot better in something else with a little edge to it.

Brad is cheating says a sad Angelina

A bleary eyed Angelina Jolie arrived back in the USA after her recent visit to Iraq and shocked waiting press at LA Airport by announcing that she knows husband Brad Pitt is cheating.

"He's a cheat" said an angry Jolie "He thinks I don't know but I do. Well, no more, either he stops cheating or I'm never playing again."

Jolie, who here, reported that Brad often beats her severely is furious that Brad has been shifting his Bishop when Jolie's attention is distracted by screaming kids. "I always suspected something was amiss - his Bishop kind of seems to always be in a strategically advantageous position. He is always fiddling with his bishop. I should have known."

Pitt say he is ashamed that he has been caught cheating. "I admit I cheat. I promise though I will mend my ways. The last thing I want to do is stop playing chess with Angelina."

Depp & Jolie are the dishes of the day this Valentine’s

Hollywood stars Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie have topped a poll by kitchen manufacturer and retailer Sigma 3 of celebrities Britons would most like to cook for on Valentine’s Day.

But it’s a different story when being cooked for, as Britons would prefer TV chefs Gordon Ramsey and Nigella Lawson to don their aprons and cook up a storm for them on February 14th.

Sweeney Todd star Depp compounded David Beckham’s miserable month after his axe from the England squad by polling 28% of the vote, just 1% more than the L.A. Galaxy footballer. Sean Connery was top of the menu when women over 40 were asked who they would most like to cook for, polling 31% of the vote. Almost a third of men decided Angelina Jolie would look great sat at their dining table, beating Oscar winner Helen Mirren into second place (26%).

When it came to being cooked for, Britons let their taste-buds rule over Hollywood glamour with half of women choosing Gordon Ramsey as the ideal Valentine’s chef and three quarters of men deciding Nigella Lawson would look great in an apron on the special day.

However, the likely reality facing couples across the country this Valentine’s Day was not on many people’s wish-lists; just 7% of women said they would most like to cook for their partners alongside just 3% of men.

Paula Morris, Marketing Manager, Sigma 3 commented, “It’s no surprise that Britons picked two dishes in Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie as the two people they would most like to cook for this Valentine’s Day. Their taste-buds definitely ruled when choosing the person they would most like to cook for them, but in Nigella Lawson I think the boys might have the best of both worlds!”

Angelina Jolie: 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith Changed My Life'

Because it led her to Brad Pitt...

She may have remained tight-lipped on her rumored pregnancy, but Angelina Jolie was only too happy to open up about other aspects of her off-screen life, including partner Brad Pitt.

Speaking at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival after receiving the award for Outstanding Performance of the Year Award for her role in A Mighty Heart, the 32-year-old discussed her personal life including her life-changing role in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which ultimately led her to the hunky Fight Club star.

”Obviously I'm very glad I did it – It changed my life,” said a smiling Jolie.

The mother-of-four also revealed more about her relationship with her estranged father, Jon Voight, with whom she worked with on her blockbuster flick, Tomb Raider.

She added: ”Strangely enough, the scene was about a daughter and her father who had not spent their lives together and had a lot of questions for each other.

“[It was] kind of therapeutic for us to get some things out and talk. We spent that time as two artists, and it was a special time. It was an important time."

And the actress holds no hard feelings towards her ex-husband and Pushing Tin costar Billy Bob Thornton.

"I thought he was an amazing artist, and still is."

Jolie - who admitted that she still doesn't know how to operate a computer - was also pressed about which role was more rewarding - that of an actress or humanitarian.

"I love being a mom,” she concluded “I think that's my big passion: being with my family."

Angelina Jolie Fesses Up - She Doesn't Know How To Turn On Computer

Oh, Angelina! Angelina Jolie was answering questions at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Saturday after being honored with the Outstanding Performance of the Year Award for the film A Mighty Heart, the 2007 movie based on Mariane Pearl's account of Wall Street Journal reporter Danny Pearl's life and death.

We would say "Congrats," but Ms. Jolie will never read this...since she confessed on stage Saturday that she doesn't know how to operate a PC!

"As Brad knows," Angie revealed, "I don't really know how to turn on a computer." Wow. That's disappointing.

From a former IT manager, here are 3 rules about a computer: 1) Don't be afraid of it. You won't mess it up. And if you do, you can afford to buy a new one. Maddox is going to need wikipedia his homework soon! 2) Everything has a help menu. 3) They are not waterproof...and don't like wine, either.

Just a few things we've learned. Not that she'll ever get to read it...unless Brad powers it up!

Eastwood honours Jolie at film festival

Clint Eastwood honoured Angelina Jolie at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Saturday by handing her the event's 'Performance of the Year' award.

The actress won the prize for her portrayal of Mariane Pearl, wife of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, in 'A Mighty Heart'.

Jolie was thrilled to receive the honour from Eastwood, the director of her new film 'The Changeling', stating: "I think he's just a genuinely great guy. He's nice to everybody on set."

The actress arrived at the prize giving gala with partner Brad Pitt. The media in attendance was instructed not to ask the couple questions about a rumoured pregnancy.

Angelina Jolie's lips is one of the top list in of the annual "Hollywood's Hottest Looks" survey. This was revealed on Thursday by The Beverly Hills Institute of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery.

According to doctors Richard Fleming, "Our patients continue to turn to Hollywood to raise their standard of beauty. Our patients want to look rested, energetic and, most of all, youthful like the celebrities they see in glossy magazines."
